Former mayor of Riace Domenico Lucano attends the presentation of his new book “Il fuorilegge” (The Outlaw) at La Distilleria Feltrinelli book shop in Pomigliano D’Arco, Southern Italy, on December 11, 2021. Mimmo Lucano was involved in the European migrant crisis welcoming refugees and revitalising his village, which was experiencing population decline. In September 2021, he was sentenced in first instance to 13 years in prison for aiding illegal immigration.
