Somma Vesuviana, Italia - 3 agosto 2015 - Preparativi per la festa delle Lucerne che si svolge ogni 4 anni per le strade del borgo antico del paese. Si sccendono lucerne ad olio per indicare la strada alle anime dei morti che vogliono ritornare nei luoghi dove hanno vissuto. The festival, which is celebrated every four years, is dedicated to the dead, whose souls, according to local lore, are guided back to earth by the glow of the oil lanterns. When the lanterns go out, locals believes that the souls return through the lantern-lit doors which are built by the relatives of the dead. The festival was originally pagan but was incorporated by the Catholic Church as a procession dedicated to St. Mary of the Snow ``
