Taverna del Re is a waste storage of residual fuel located between the localities "Lo Spesso" in the municipality of Villa Literno and "Taverna del Re" in Giugliano, and then divided between the provinces of Caserta and Naples. With a largeness of about 130 hectares is the largest temporary storage site for packaged waste in Campania region. From mid-October 2008 an agreement had been reached between the extraordinary government commissioner and the mayor of Giugliano for the closure of the plant, but under two years later the site was reopened. In 2016 the removal of the waste accumulated on the site began.
